This one was a long time coming, and something I’ve been wanting to see hit the real world for a long time. Obviously, Collins coming in and proposing marriage to Lizzie wouldn’t have made any sense in this world, especially seeing as how they haven’t like, gone on a date or anything.
But really, Collins in P&P was never about marriage, it was about compromising Lizzie’s values in exchange for providing comfort for herself and her family. Marriage isn’t about that anymore, but jobs can be.
Our goal has always been to hit the themes of the book, and to re-create the situations in ways that make modern sense while still being a clear adaptation, in some cases scene-for-scene. It’s a really enjoyable format and i think this, in particular, worked out quite well. I remember deciding how all of this would play out with some friends at a party and how exciting it was. That was a LONG time ago, so it’s nice to see it come together here.
The writers did a great job with it. And Maxwell Glick is AMAZING. I love that dude.
